Description	The opportunity Our Critical Care and Trauma Division is seeking a new Senior CRA to join the CHEST Study Team. CHEST is a prospective, multi-centred, double-blinded, randomised-controlled trial comparing two intravenous fluid therapies for the management of fluid resuscitation in critically ill patients. The primary endpoint for this trial will be death from all causes at 90 days. 7000 patients will be enrolled in this study at about 25 study centres in Australia and New Zealand. First patient to be recruited in CHEST is expected Dec 2009. The role As the Senior CRA you will assist in developing protocols and clinical trials in accordance with scientific and regulatory requirements to optimise Institute objectives. Specifically, you will develop effective working relationships with the program’s study site staff, organise and conduct site initiation visits, motivate and train investigators and ensure that the study site personnel have a good understanding of the protocol, complete all monitoring visit and progress reports, provide clinical trial technical advice to CRAs and stakeholders. Hours and Timeframe The role is full time for a fixed term of 2 to 3 years, with the opportunity to negotiate to part time hours as required. Skills, knowledge and experience Tertiary qualifications in a related science or health care discipline Several years experience in clinical trial monitoring within an academic, CRO or pharmaceutical environment Understanding of medical terminology and physiology Excellent working knowledge of ICH/GCP, ethical and regulatory requirements. Excellent interpersonal skills and presentation skills Strong ability to organise, take initiative and follow up independently Flexibility in the face of changing organisational priorities and ambiguous environments Ability and willingness to travel (up to 50%), and Drivers Licence For more information please see the position description.
